Introduction

This is a scheme for members' allowances made by the Council pursuant to the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 having regard to the recommendations of the Independent Remuneration Panel established for the purpose.

The 2003 Regulations put in place a consolidated and simplified regime for allowances and all references in this scheme to regulations should be construed as references to the 2003 Regulations.

This scheme was initially approved by the Council on 17 July 2003, and revised on 17 February 2011. By virtue of Regulation 17(4) the revised allowances are payable from 6 May 2011.
