Members' allowances

Set out below are the allowances available to Woking Borough Councillors.

On 17 February 2011 Woking Borough Council, having regard to the recommendations of an Independent Remuneration Panel, amended its Scheme for Members' Allowances, all in accordance with the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003.

The Panel's recommendation had been that the Basic Allowance for Members for the 2011/12 Municipal Year remain at £7,115 (the level determined for 2010/11) and that the Panel undertakes a further review of Members' Allowances following the introduction of the Strong Leader Model.

The Council accepted this recommendation, subject to the review taking place in time for any decision to be included in the 2012/13 Budget and that the review should take into account total allowances paid to Members by English Local Authorities using comparative data available through the Local Government Association. The amended Scheme has effect for the 2011/12 Municipal Year.
