Community safety

Introduction

Woking is one of the safest places to live, work and visit in the country, as Surrey has the lowest level of recorded crime in England. However, we know that residents have concerns about community safety issues, such as crime and anti-social behaviour, and the Borough Council tackles these locally in partnership with other organisations.

The Safer Woking Partnership comprises representatives from the following agencies:

  • Surrey County Council

  • Surrey Fire and Rescue Service

  • Surrey Primary Care Trust

  • Surrey Police

  • Surrey Police Authority

  • Woking Borough Council

The partnership works to reduce crime and increase reassurance across Woking. It publishes a Community Safety Strategy that details priorities, as identified through the analysis of local crime and disorder issues and concerns raised through a community safety survey. The partnership continues to initiate improved measures to tackle crime and anti social behaviour.
