Elderly people's lunch club scheme

The elderly people's lunch club scheme aims to support voluntary clubs who are established mainly for the purpose of providing meals and/or recreation for elderly people.

Criteria for the scheme

  • Grants will be made to voluntary clubs established mainly for the purpose of providing meals and/or recreation for elderly people. The grant must be used for this purpose.

  • Elderly people are defined as persons over the age of sixty.

  • Clubs shall keep accounts sufficient to show that any grant received from the Council has been spent for its intended purposes.

  • Clubs may be required to submit their membership records and accounts to the Financial Services Manager for scrutiny before the grant is paid.

  • Grants will not be paid to clubs having less than twelve members over the age of sixty.

  • The standard allowances on which the grants for elderly people's lunch clubs are as set out below:

Application

Clubs seeking to apply for funding can do so each year between late-November and mid-January each year by filling in an application form which is available from late November and submitting a copy of the clubs most recent accounts.

Every question within the application form must be answered. If you cannot answer a question or if it is not applicable please answer 'Not applicable' and explain why.

Decision making process

A delegated authority report on all applications will be prepared by Officers for submission to the Leader of the Executive and Corporate Services Manager in March each year.

Grants awarded are released to the club in April each year.
