Good neighbour and community award

The Woking Borough Council Good Neighbour and Community Award aims to promote community spirit by recognising people of all ages across the Borough who have made positive contributions to the community.

Categories

There are three categories for nominations:

  • Good Neighbour Award
  • Community Award
  • Youth Award

Further details about the categories can be found in the scheme guidelines

So far 88 residents have received awards through the scheme for helping out others with household chores, assisting with shopping, visiting those living alone or in hospital and helping to run events in the community.

Judging Process

Judging will be done on an area basis - i.e. the seventeen Borough Council wards. Depending on the number of nominations received, each ward could have one 'Ward' winner in each of the first two categories.  These Ward winners will then go forward for the judging of the two overall Borough Award winners.

Nominations for the Youth Award will not be restricted to wards and there will be just one winner for the Borough.

Each of the winners will receive vouchers with the Borough winners receiving in addition a certificate and shield. The awards will be presented by the Mayor at Council in July this year.
