The current Prime Minister is David Cameron, leader of the Conservative Party, who was appointed by Queen Elizabeth II on 11 May 2010 following the UK General Election, held on 6 May 2010. The election failed to provide a decisive result, with the Conservatives as the biggest party within a hung parliament. In Surrey we have a two tier system, a county council and a borough council. Each takes on different responsibilities regarding schools, roads, new outdoor equipment etc.Who's your local councillor?If you have an issue or query your local councillor should be able to help. Woking Youth Council represent views of every 13-19 year old in the Borough. They also run events and support various charities.Surrey Youth Parliament has representatives from all the boroughs and look at wider county issues. In turn, one young person from here will also sit on the UK Youth Parliament.Woking Borough Council and Surrey Police hold regular Tune in Events which allow residents to discuss the priorities that they think should be dealt with and to also give some suggestions on how best to tackle them.
